Nick Offerman Says Get Off Your Ass & Cast Your Ballot In Timely New Video Single ‘You Better Vote’

Election season makes for an excellent time to throw on a sitcom for a cheap chuckle with some familiar characters amidst political intensity. And when the two have some crossover, a promotional powerhouse is born for the greater good.

Providing comedic relief while maintaining the matter at hand, grizzled actor Nick Offerman — known largely as Ron Swanson on NBC’s Parks and Recreation — is delving beyond due diligence, sonically combining the pun and the political for a more palatable push toward voting in the 2024 Presidential Election. 

Delivered to streaming services October 17th, 2024, “You Better Vote” paints a forward-looking image, featuring granddaughters upset with their grandfather for being an Election Day ‘slouch’ and potentially impacting future generations’ rights by not voting. “They’ll be so very pissed / That you dared to take the risk / Of leaving their fate in the tiny hands of a malignant narcissist,” Offerman sings over twangy American country rock n’ roll melodies. 

Accompanied by a music video with fitting playful absurdity, the “You Better Vote” audiovisual brings the lyrics to life, depicting the granddaughter’s theatric reactions for grandpa all but giving the country away ‘to that orange seditious prick.’ After forewarnings of flushing his Metamucil down the drain, putting mud in his depends, and setting fire to his rocking chair, the future generation sure is pleased when grandpa votes after all. 

This was not the only politically satirical yet pointed song Offerman released.

“Proud to Be a Kamala Man,” a timely and tasteful rendition of “God Bless the U.S.A.” by Lee Greenwood, hit streaming services September 5th, and the accompanying music video optimizes real footage of and quotes by Donald Trump with hilarious juxtaposition to lightheartedly narrate how the ‘Kamala curious’ come to recognize Trump’s obscenity.
