“A heartfelt exploration of the transience of life.”
This thought-provoking sentiment succinctly envelopes the theme behind contemporary Americana artist Brock Davis’ upcoming album, Nothing Lasts Forever, which is scheduled for release on February 27th.
The expansive project contains fourteen personal storytelling tracks about the impermanence of life and its journeys. Davis explores the true meaning of his own narrative through the title track. “Nothing lasts forever and thank God for that. Just keep holdin’ on and you’ll find your way back,” he states.
One of the most significant songs in the collection is “Til The Morning Comes,” written alongside Davis’s aunt. After a long fought battle with cancer, she decided to halt her treatments and instead, focus on enjoying the time she had left with her loved ones. To address this in somewhat heart-wrenching fashion, the pre-chorus states, “I’m gonna stop the chemo, cause baby it really ain’t workin’ / I wanna be here with you without hurtin’ / I believe it ain’t the time we’re given / It’s the choices we make and how we live it.”
Another notable track on the album is “All of You”, written about Davis’s deep appreciation and admiration for his wife. He celebrates the everyday qualities that he admires about her, and points to the unconditional love found in their relationship. An upbeat melody creates an energetic feel to coincide with the topic of the song. “I know the way we fit together, the angles, and the curves / I know the love that you give me is more than I deserve,” he sings.
In contrast is the heartbreaking ballad, “Nowhere Near Ready.” Here, Davis writes tenderly about the pain of meeting the right person at the wrong time. His lyrics give a sense of nostalgia, allowing listeners to feel his longing as their own with lines like “I was young, I was foolish, I was twenty / And nowhere near ready.”
Moving down the album, “Make Your Own Change” — Davis’s latest single and first of 2026 — is a bittersweet letter of reflection. He touches on the need for personal change as he enters his mid-life. The artist creates an encouraging tune to invite listeners to evaluate their lives alongside him. “I’ve always felt that my reason for being here is to write songs that touch the heart,” he claims. “I feel that more than ever, and that is the purpose that drives me.”
Nothing Lasts Forever is full of nostalgia, love, and lessons. For the project, Davis partnered with a band made up of A-list Nashville session musicians to create a crisp, concise album full of top tier instrumentation, and it shows. Grammy Award-winning engineer Zach Allen (Keb Mo’, Christone “Kingfish” Ingram) recorded and mixed the record.
Davis is finalizing live dates, and working on several videos in support of the new album. And with any driven artist, he’s keenly aware that “nothing lasts forever,” and is already working on songs for the next album.
