Finding your passion can lead you towards an intriguing if not difficult path, soon revealing what the rest of your life might have in store.
That is exactly what happened to Canadian country singer, Kyle McKearney.
Born and raised in British Columbia, McKearney grew up in a family with a deep love for bluegrass and country music. And after moving to Nashville for high school, he soaked in the city’s environment and applying it to his music. He would then start recording music, and soon started an alternative pop band, The New Electric, with his brother Shade. This enabled him to develop skills to become a singer-songwriter, a producer, a performer, and eventually, how to tour.
In time, McKearney would receive a number of notable accolades including: a Canadian Radio Music Award nomination, two Top 20 CHR/Top 40 hit songs on Canadian commercial radio, a Top 30 at Pop/Hot AC radio, a Top 30 on Active Rock radio, and a Canadian Radio Music Award nomination in 2017.
Over the years, McKearney took on many opportunities as he toured with Backstreet Boys member, Nick Carter, and spent six months on the road across the country with the touring cast of Queen’s musical theater show, We Will Rock You. He returned to his own music soon after, and started developing cover songs that he would upload to his Facebook page. He eventually crafted his new sound while working with a gamut of modern country stars such as Chris Stapleton, Brandi Carlile, and Jason Isbell. He promptly constructed 4 Volume EPs with six tracks each in 2020, and released an original single, “Annie.”
McKearney is at it again, as he just released his newest single, “Keepin It Simple,” on May 14th. The single was written after he finished his six-month tour. However, this single came across after revealing to his manager he wanted to quit music and place his focus on being a husband and father. He then started to write songs he would soon release with the help of his wife, Sarah McKearney.
The track captures an easy-going feel with spirited lyrics rolled into an ebullient anthem. McKearney’s smooth and charismatic vocals bending easily with the tranquilizing country melody that the track produces. The single is perfect for this upcoming summer, and has huge potential to be a playlist favorite during activities such as camping, backyard endeavors, and road-tripping.
He’s been performing the single with additional originals and cover songs virtually on his Facebook page, and he tabs other virtual shows weekly to promote his new singles and other live jam sessions. Something that has become much more prevalent these days.
Kyle McKearney’s music continues to rise to the charts in country music with his unique resonance, and hopefully, we can expect more music to come from him this year.
