Triple Threat: Singer, Model, & Actress Demi Ramos Talks New Single ‘Just A Phase’ Ft. GARZI

Singer, songwriter, rocker, actor, model, podcast host- these are all titles associated with Demi Ramos.

And on January 27th, the multi-faceted artist delivered an ahead of schedule summer banger in her new single, “Just a Phase,” featuring fellow artist GARZI. 

A Puerto Rican New York City native, Ramos studied opera at Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts, where she met the Emmy-Award winning actress, Victoria Konefal. Long time friend of Ramos, The Days of Our Lives star is making her directorial debut in Ramos’s “Just a Phase” music video. 

Ramos brings her innate charisma and natural energy into every creative collaboration, ramping up each of her projects to its highest potential. Featuring fellow artist GARZI, the two work in harmony on the new single, seamlessly blending their talents to create this latest breakthrough groove with a sticky chorus and sharp hooks. 

“The tune [“Just a Phase”] was made in an hour during a spontaneous jam in LA and the sounds were inspired by the 2000s. I remember listening to a lot of Blink 182, Weezer, Bloc Party and Yeah Yeah Yeahs during that trip,” recalls Ramos. 

We got to throw some questions Ramos’ way about the new single, her dream collaboration, future plans, and more.

So you recently dropped your new single, “Just a Phase.” What more can you tell us regarding the backstory and influence behind it?

The song really captured how I was feeling being in LA for one of the first times and feeling curious and optimistic about new territory. 

Incredible. And how did you get hooked up with GARZI, and what made him the right collab for this track?

I opened for GARZI when he played in New York City. He’s an artist/friend who I really admire. We were hanging out one day in the studio and it all quickly came together. I ended up mastering the demo version of the tune because it really locked in the essence of what naturally came out that day. 

Can fans expect to see this single on an upcoming EP or LP?

I’m having fun experimenting with sounds without limits or meaning to fit anything into a body of work. But yes there’s an album in the works. 🙂 

What do you hope listeners take away from “Just a Phase?”

There are times in life that are just a phase. Allow yourself to dance through it.

Take note, readers. What does a day in the life of Demi Ramos’ songwriting process look like?

Usually all of the tunes are written with acoustic guitar. Then I like to translate it to electric guitar and do some cool vocal processing.

Do you have any hobbies or extracurricular activities you do that perhaps influences your creative side?

Acting! It’s a pretty new thing for me, but I loved discovering a new way to emote artistically.

If you could share a stage with a living influence of yours, who would it be?

Foo Fighters.

What are one or two pinnacle moments for you as an artist?

A period of time that meant a lot to me is when in the thick of quarantine me and other artists came together to throw live shows on various New York City rooftops. It was a time when there weren’t any live shows, so it felt great to give back. 

What are some of your goals – whether musically or otherwise – for 2023? 

To keep living a life that is inspiring to myself and others. <3
