Swedish Singer-Songwriter Julia Logan Sings Of Loss & Hope On New Single ‘Moodswings’

Time and again, humble beginnings often give root to the most fruitful blossoms.

For Sweden-born Julia Logan, a lifetime of music began in the pews of her hometown church choir. From there, a move to Southern California led her to learn guitar from a local sun-kissed hippie, and the rest is history.

Just this past September, Logan unveiled “Moodswings,” the third and final single from her forthcoming album, Faraway Nearby. In a Facebook post about the release, she revealed that its content is heavy on “loss and hope,” two often inextricably linked concepts. One particularly stirring lyric, “Cause the heart’s a lonely hunter / In an empty space,” speaks to that part in all of us that searches for comfort in the midst of heartache.

Since its initial release, the indie songstress has also unleashed a live video performance of the same tune. Logan is joined in this studio session by Daniel Bengston, Sofia Kristensen, and Mattias Bergqvist. Together, these three create the cherry on top of her emotional yet dreamy message.

Released ahead of her upcoming album were two more singles — “Top of the World” and “Mirrors.” Known for her dreamy folk-pop sound, Logan’s lyrics tend toward a hopeful view of life when things seem bleak. In a previous interview about her songwriting she states, “I like to write from my own lived experiences and my inner emotions, but I am also affected by friends and places around me.”

These three singles are her first releases since 2022, when she debuted her first album, Everly Foreverly. Keep an eye out for Logan’s upcoming album, set to drop November 1st, 2024. She’ll be having her album release show in Stockholm the following night.
