Katie Wellenberg Offers Hope To Those Seeking To Find Their Place In New Single ‘Cinderella’

Sometimes the best kind of reassurance comes from songs.

Katie Wellenberg is a Munich, Germany-based singer-songwriter that captivates her audience through her vivid and tender lyricism, accompanied with her straightforward melodies.

The country-leaning artist’s newest single, “Cinderella,” is an ode those who perhaps go against the grain, and maybe have not yet found their footing in our bustling and bewildering world.

“Cinderella” opens with a nostalgic and gentle acoustic guitar progression, creating a stripped down first verse, with a few subtle electric guitar licks accentuating the track. The chorus kicks in with an easy-on-the-ears soft pop-rock charm, with Wellenberg’s crystal vocals shining through. Her tone and diction are clear and dream-like, as she tells a story of insecurity and society’s stereotypes.

“I believe that our culture is one of fitting in and that’s okay, but pushing boundaries and including people that don’t fit with the stereotypical demands is an important topic to address,” she states. “Diversity is beautiful and I believe that fitting in should not mean we all have to be the same.”

Her words hearken to staying true to yourself, not being swayed by others, and reassurance that brighter days are always just around the corner. “You may feel like Cinderella / No one can walk inside your shoes / Sometimes everybody seems to belong / Everybody but you,” she sings in the chorus with a swelling melody.

The heartwarming nature and positive message of “Cinderella” ensures Wellenberg’s plight to inspire with her thoughtful songs. “All I ever wanted was for my music to have an impact on people’s lives in the way music has impacted — and oftentimes saved mine,” she says.
