Musing over the dawn and dusks of relationships, love, and the metaphysical journey of self-actualization, singer-songwriter Katie Boeck channels an acoustic solar soundscape while owning the course of her own history in her divinely charged new single, “Over Again.”
Boeck’s voice rings like a siren’s song of enchantment, pooling mystical production with modern themes as “Over Again” descends on the relationships between time, the unexpected, and self-reflection.
With the release of Boeck’s album, Calico, on the horizon, the first single and the opening track, “Over Again,” is a taste of the singer’s timeless sound and transcendent songwriting.
Boeck poetically sings, “All the pieces of myself that I withheld inside some secret sky / All the feelings I forgot I felt are melting in the morning light,” with softness and conviction, as she eases the listener into an earthy and contemplative plane of existence.
The initial verses of the track transport the listener into a Diana Gabaldon-esque world, being weaved in and out between past and present. Drawing on ancient and modern muses, Boeck’s musical journey is a celebration of feminine forces in time from the likes of Joni Mitchell to the Greek myth of Eurydice.
“Over Again,” soaked in soaring lyrical skill and fluid vocal layering, chips away at burning questions like, “Would you do it over again / Lose ourselves along the path of good intentions.” Using music as a means to heal, Boeck converts the complexities of her experiences into universal themes throughout her music regarding love, loss, and the power of time.
Boeck’s career is a river spawning several streams that have taken her from playing LA dive bars, to Carnegie Hall, to an all-women Bollywood band. The surreal six-month tour of India had her playing everything from farm weddings to the Indian Navy’s Annual Gala.
Boeck later moved to New York to perform in Duncan Sheik’s Tony-nominated musical, Spring Awakening, where she shared the lead role of Wendla with deaf actress Sandra Mae Frank. The musical’s success occasioned appearances on Late Night with Seth Meyers, and NBC Nightly News with Lester Holt among other media outlets.
