Greasediver Delivers Hard-Driving Rock Anthem With New Single ‘On High’ Ahead Of Upcoming EP

With feverish electricity and a license to shred, Music City rock n’ rollers Greasediver have re-emerged with their latest single, “On High.” It is the lead single off of their forthcoming EP, Onward, set to hit streaming services August 30th, 2024.

Pioneered by Adirondack Mountain man and songwriter Emmett Rozelle (vocals, rhythm guitar), Greasediver has been lubricating audiences with face-melting rock n’ roll in the Nashville area for a handful of years now. They deliver some good old fashioned rock n’ roll with influences of prog rock and a little dash of country rock. (see: “Just Another Yankee Carpetbagger in Nashville”)

Largely inspired by the acoustic/electric dichotomy of Neil Young’s seminal 1979 album Rust Never Sleeps, their upcoming EP finds much of its voice in the humor and surrealism of the often mundane. It also plays off of the allure and asperity of life on the road, ghost towns in the Adirondack Mountains, the works of Kurt Vonnegut and Cormac McCarthy, and the singular elation of rock and roll.

“On High” fuses high intensity “power garage” guitar rock with lyrics inspired by the beauty and humor in the Lynchian aspects of everyday life. It’s about seeing things from a different if not more cosmic perspective, and appreciating the little things in life around you.

Recording for Onward took place over two sessions in the summer of 2023 at The Bomb Shelter (Alabama Shakes, Music Band, Dee Oh Gee) in Nashville. The EP was engineered by Drew Carroll, with all songs written and largely performed by Rozelle. It follows the band’s 2021 debut album, In the Wake of the Past.

Over the years, Greasediver has grown into a must-see live rock n’ roll experience, which along with Rozelle features Chili Monroe (lead guitar), Peter Piscitelli (bass) and Carson French (drums, percussion). Composed of veterans on Nashville’s Broadway circuit, road dogs, and musical lifers, the band has established itself as a fixture of the gritty underground Nashville rock scene. It’s also worth noting Rozelle is a man of many musical trades, as he’s a tried and true drummer of many years, having played and continues to play with numerous acts. He’s also a top tier gear repairman who can fix you up for an ice cold 12-pack of Rolling Rock and a firm handshake. (that’s the going friend rate)

The band has played countless shows in many of Nashville’s renowned rock clubs, including a well-received performance at The Basement’s New Faces Night, which garnered a personal invitation by owner Mike “Grimey” Grimes himself to be featured on the following Best of New Faces Night showcase in March of 2024.

So if ya like rock n’ roll, listen to Greasediver.
