Tis The Season: Ava Della Pietra Delivers Cheeky & Energetic New Video Single ‘Reindeer Rebellion’

Yes folks it’s that time of year again, and Ava Della Pietra is ushering in the holiday season with a bang, putting a fresh n’ fun spin on Christmas music with her newest single, “Reindeer Rebellion,” released on November 1st, 2024.

“Reindeer Rebellion” tells the story of Santa’s nine reindeer, determined to “bring back the joy and magic of the holidays,” Della Pietra explains. But beyond just that, she also stated, “I wanted to create a song that gives the holiday season an edgy twist.”

The song opens with a dreamy soundscape equip with jingle bells, before Della Pietra’s vocals transition in with the first verse introducing some familiar holiday characters like Scrooge and The Grinch. The more mellow opening then gives way to the thumping bass and bold vocal stylings that hit in the chorus. The young singer is confident and cheeky as she sings, “We’ve gotta turn up the joy / Turn up the love it’s not enough / Keep all the elves employed / Let Santa do what he does.” 

The track’s music video is bright, colorful, and youthful, as Della Pietra and a group of dancers light up the stage in front of Christmas trees, wrapped gifts, and tinsel, giving the video a classic holiday feel. The video concludes with the group dressed in reindeer costumes in an enthusiastic kick-line. 

Hailing from New York City, the 19-year-old has been surrounded by music and performance from a young age. She got her start in the theater, appearing in traveling tours of Les Misérables and White Christmas. She later joined the Broadway cast of School of Rock in 2015.

Della Pietra has been releasing music since 2019, with her debut single also seasonal in nature with “Christmas Tonight.” From her time in the theater to her solo career, she has already garnered much acclaim, with her 2023 single, “ego,” winning the Songwriter’s Guild Awards pop song contest.  

Currently a student at Harvard and Berklee’s music program, Della Pietra has a lot to offer in the artistic and creative worlds, and frankly she’s just getting started.
