Scott Clay Showcases Americana Heart & Soul On New Music Video Single ‘One For The Road’

With his live performance music video dropping today March 12th, singer-songwriter Scott Clay brings comfort through uncertainty with his gentle yet hopeful new single, “One for the Road.”

Offering glimpses into the life of a touring musician, Clay shares the intimate details that ground such an elusive pursuit in unpredictability and connection to others. Tender, simple lyrics are carried by optimistic organ and straightforward yet heartfelt guitar, nodding to Clay’s typically experimental and folkish music, while maintaining a classic American sound that most could find in their hearts to sway to.

“The old dog eared page / The sound of the rain / As the radio plays / I get lost in the day / I get lost in the day as the radio plays,” croons Clay, breathing life into small moments of everyday with his strong, impassioned vocals.

“One For The Road”

“One for the Road” precedes the Nashville-based singer’s sixth and newest album, Jade, set to be released this May. Known for his variety of sound, appreciation for nature, and introspection, Clay’s prior discography and latest single tease a record full of storytelling, relatable lyrics, and emotions targeted through the charm of both traditional and exciting sounds, as heard in his previous work, including his 2022 album, Let it All Lay Bare.

The single’s accompanying music video features Clay singing onstage amidst a dark background and dynamic camera angles, providing a tender private concert for the audience, allowing watchers to witness and absorb Clay’s visible emotions, whilst sharing with us the warm yet soulful feelings evoked by the track.

“One for the Road” is an easy-on-the-ears track to play again and again in order to savor the unrushed, blissful and meaningful sound. “I’ve never played here before / And I’m feeling unsure / But the people are kind / And the beer is still good / Then the bartender smiles / And hands me one for the road,” concludes Clay, radiating the sensations of a happy ending and celebrating finding comfort in the uncomfortable.

His next single, “The Painter,” is due out April 5th.
