Pop Singer-Songwriter Meagan Hickman Accepts Moving On From Heartbreak In Anthemic New Single ‘You Go Your Way’

Chicago native and Nashville based pop singer-songwriter, Meagan Hickman, has released her newest single, “You Go Your Way,” featuring wistful glances into her real life story of love, but with an upbeat twist.

The Berklee College of Music graduate has been creating and performing music for the majority of her adolescent and adult life. From touring the world with internationally renowned choirs, recording commercial jingles, to being a production coordinator for top Billboard artists, she has created a great deal of opportunities for herself. Working for artists such as Gavin DeGraw, Walk the Moon, and Goo Goo Dolls, she constantly stays connected with the business side of the industry along with her own creative music roots.

In 2015, she released her debut full-length album, Sightlines, showcasing bold instrumentation, ethical lyrics, and powerhouse vocals. Blending elements of pop, R&B, soul, and rock, she finds components in each genre that highlight significant themes of loss, love, and diligence. The Music Butcher described her voice as, “Strong and full of personality, putting everything behind her words giving them an incredible amount of depth and soul.” Specializing in memorable hooks and her variety of genres, she continues to show that in her present singles.

Premiering Thursday August 26th

Her recent singles in 2021 have shown her soulful origin and uplifting melodies, which set up her newest single really well. “You Go Your Way” begins with strong piano and her low vocals set in becoming the focal point of the song. With the potent lyrics of the chorus, “You go your way and I’ll go mine / Pretend that we can just rewind / We’ll let the past just fade in time,” she lets you know exactly what she’s feeling without sugarcoating, which is something unique to her writing style.

Giving you a look into her real life is something personal yet relatable to all listeners when experiencing loss or heartbreak. However, with her optimistic outlook and hopeful message, she is the kind of artist you can’t help but sing-along and dance to, and that’s exactly what this single sets out to do.

Hickman spent more than 10 years developing her authentic voice while fueling her passion for female empowerment, self-discovery, and persistence through her music. She says, “I love knowing that my music could positively influence someone’s day—whether it’s a smile, feeling included, or a sense of community.”

Drawing influences from artists such as Bonnie Raitt, Stevie Wonder, Sara Barellies, Ben Rector, and more, she appreciates and takes her work very meticulously. She has also recently been back in the studio collaborating with Nashville producers. Planning to release new songs later in the year, she continues to represent her passions of community and empowerment throughout her music while celebrating how individuality can be one of the greatest blessings.
