A Look At Bay Area Indie Pop Songwriter Rae du Soleil

When you live in a place as progressive and beautiful as Northern California, or specifically the Bay Area, it seems inevitable the ripe fruits of inspiration will eventually find you.

Such is the case with young, passionate indie pop artist Rae du Soleil. Rae got her toes wet recording some singles earlier this year, and has her debut album set for release next year.

We had the opportunity to find out a little bit more about her and her music, so without further adieu…

Who: Rae du Soleil

What: I’m currently preparing to release my first album, ‘Rae du Soleil’ and I just released my first two singles, ‘I Love You Close,’ and ‘Another Road.”

Where: ‘Rae du Soleil’ will be available on all major platforms including Apple Music, Spotify, Amazon Music and Google Play.

When: ‘Rae du Soleil’ is out on January 10, 2020.

About The Release: ‘Rae du Soleil’ is a 10-track indie pop album that I started writing when I was seventeen. This album’s soundscape has an identity of its own: bright, mature, cohesive and reverberative of genuine vulnerability. Inspired by themes of heartache, hope and healing, the tunes on this album range from upbeat and goofy (“Inevitable Sh!t”), to socially relevant (“Forgiveness”), to raw and relatable (“Learning To Be Loved). In my latest release, ‘Another Road,’ I sing, “I never got a map for this” – instead of staying lost on the journey, I wrote my own map and it became this album.

What’s Next: I’m constantly working on new music and hoping to go on tour very soon! Over the next few years, I am also developing my self-designed B.A. degree at school,
where I am integrating the fields of transformative arts, developmental and multicultural
psychology, quantum physics and embodiment.

If I Could Collaborate With Anybody, It’d Be: Michael Franti.

Favorite Part About Living In The Bay Area: The Redwood trees.

First Thing I’ll Do When I Hit The Big Time: Say a huge ‘thank you’ to the Universe and definitely dance, no matter where I happen to be at that moment. Then take action to ensure that any successes of mine will do good for future generations.

Something People Don’t Know About Me: I love making blackout poetry and am currently creating a book of my pieces.

If I Wasn’t A Musician, I’d Be A: Quantum Physicist or a Mental Health & Wellness Educator with youth!

Closing Words: Thank you for having me. This release has been a long time coming and I’m grateful to be able to share it with you.
