Munich Indie Pop Rock Band KYTES Release New Album ‘Good Luck’ & Single ‘Runaway’

When I think Germany, I think three things: Volkswagen, Oktoberfest, and KYTES.

KYTES is an award-winning Munich-based indie band engulfing Europe and the rest of the world in its pop rock charm.

They are still riding the high of their second album release, Good Luck, which was released February 28th. Their single, “Runaway,” is what caught our ear and prompted this piece. The LP was released on their own label, Frisbee Records.

The band has toured all over the world, including playing at SXSW, The Great Escape (UK), Frequency (AU), and other global music festivals.

We thought it’d be fun to ask the guys some quick, rapid-fire questions about the release and more, and go figure, they provided some answers. I’ll be damned.

Who: KYTES.

What: Indie-Pop band

When: Now

About the release: Our new record Good Luck just was released on February 28th.

What’s next: We should’ve been touring right now but Covid-19 is real. So right now we’re making plans for shows in winter. Going back to the studio in spring & summer. Lots of festivals in the summer too.

Three records on a desert island:
Zenyatta Mondatta by The Police.
Random Access Memories by Daft Punk.
Currents by Tame Impala.

Favorite part about touring: We love touring and playing live so much because the feedback we get live is so direct, true and immediate. It’s so much more than a comment on social media, a playlist or a radio play. It’s the reason why we write and play music.

Least favorite part about touring: Sitting in a bus all day.

Song/artist you can’t stop listening to: Glass Animals, Tame Impala, Foals, Parcels.

Favorite way to spend a Friday night: On a stage or in our studio.

Last movie or TV show you watched: Sherlock

Best part about living in Germany: We’re extremely lucky to live in a peaceful country like Germany. Of course we also enjoy the best beer in the world haha. 🙂

What the rest of 2020 might have in store for KYTES: New music, festivals, touring and hopefully an end to Covid-19.

Closing words: Thanks so much for your time and listening to our music.
