French Singer-Songwriter Indolore Pays Tribute To Friend & Late British Rock Icon Terry Reid In Latest Single ‘Terry’

The late British rock icon Terry Reid — aka Superlungs — came into French singer-songwriter Guillaume Simon’s life by chance nearly two decades ago, and Simon’s life would never be the same.

Simon — who’s artist name is Indolore — came across the Glastonbury Fayre documentary, and instantly bewitched by Reid’s feats, he began searching for him, eventually tracking him down somewhere near the Mojave Desert. Once contact was established (through his longtime friend Chris Johnson), the two quickly hit it off. A demo of Indolore’s song “Mind Dance” won over Reid, who was then persuaded to fly across the Atlantic to record with him in France.

On June 9th, 2009, Reid arrived in Paris. Indolore and his band Shine would welcome him into their studio; a basement in the popular Menilmontant neighbourhood.

Originally scheduled for one week, the recording session with Reid only took two days. “As soon as Terry started singing, I felt like I was diving into the book of rock legends. I felt my life changing,” Indolore says. The self-titled EP would go on to be released later that year, and the bond between Reid and Indolore would last until his passing in August of 2025.

In the final months of Reid’s life, Indolore decided to pen a song in dedication to his friend and mentor, simply titled “Terry.” It was officially released March 20th, 2026.

“I had time to send him the track [which was recorded & filmed live in the studio in Paris] and he was very moved by it, so you can imagine how emotional I was,” Indolore says.

If you’re not familiar with Reid’s lore, have a look see. He opened for The Rolling Stones 1966 tour, and would be a supporting act for Cream, Jethro Tull, and Fleetwood Mac tours among others. He allegedly turned down offers to be the lead singer of Led Zeppelin and Deep Purple. This among a number of solo albums and collaborations over the decades.

Indolore recently unveiled the EP, La Vie Face A, the first side of a vinyl record, scheduled for physical release this spring. He’s released numerous singles and EPs, and two albums: 2017’s Love Letters From Eyelenda, and 2021’s After the Rain.

Indolore’s letter to his late friend that he gave to him a month before his passing reads as such:

“Dear Terry,

I want to tell you this: meeting you has changed my life for the better. You have been a major inspiration both musically and in my personal life. I thank you again for your precious friendship.

A few months ago, words came to me in music, like a letter, a letter of admiration  and deep affection for you (and Annette). Naturally, I asked my friends, who are also yours, to join me in the studio to record this song, simply entitled ‘Terry.’ More than a gift to you, it’s a gift to ourselves. Like your eternal presence in our lives. I love you Terry. We all love you.”

You never know who’s going to come into your life and out of your life. Keep your mates close, and make music while you can.
