When a musician can make any kind of music feel like home, they can decorate with curious ease.
Texas-born and Nashville-based country singer-songwriter Denitia continues to extenuate her exceptional artistry as she rises through the industry by keeping her Southern roots close, while letting herself grow in various directions in search of raw expression.
The class member of Country Music Television’s 2024 Next Women of Country honors her homebase in Americana-centric music with her gracefully resonant new single, “Back To You,” touching on the lingering memories and feelings that come with writing oneself into a new chapter. This beautiful acoustic tale marks the announcement of her upcoming album Sunset Drive, set to release September 6th, 2024, accompanied by a tour with Mickey Guyton that kicks off September 18th, 2024.
Striving to create a transcending, interpretive audio-visual experience, Denitia foregrounds striking cinematography in the music video for “Back To You,” where the more mundane moments of life are paired with sparkling acoustic guitar and soul-stirring lyricism, recounting thoughts we’ve all experienced once or twice. “Every story that I write myself into / Every word just leads me right on back to you,” she sings before making her morning tea, brushing her teeth, and pulling on her boots.

The emotional escapades Denitia is able to capture in her creativity have landed her music in various series’ like Better Things, Broad City, Dear White People, Shrinking, and The Terminal List, as well as films Nanny and The Invitation.
Denitia’s return to Nashville after living in Upstate New York and spending a decade taking in the Brooklyn indie music scene brings her home to the artist collective Black Opry community, as well as rings in her upcoming debut at the Grand Ole Opry on June 29th, 2024. She’s even sooner taking the main stage for Nashville’s Pride on June 22nd. Though glad to be back in Music City, Brooklyn brought her Brad Allen Williams, a sonically inspiring long-time friend of Denitia’s, as well as co-writer and producer of Sunset Drive.
Nowhere shy of a rising industry star, Denitia has been recognized for her moving, melodic, and malleable artistry by the Nashville Scene in 2024 as an artist to watch, named to the class of Rissi Palmer’s Color Me Country, and invited to perform at the National Museum of African American Music (June 16th, 2024) and the Country Music Hall of Fame in Nashville.
It seems there is ever more to come from Denitia, describing her motivation in music as a will to render self-expression while providing tonal mad-lib opportunities for others to resonate with. As Sunset Drive sends her across the country, she brings her acoustic guitar, sweet buttery vocals, and a whole lot of stories for audiences to look through like a mirror, one city at a time.
