Xan DuBose Delivers Tender Ode To Heartbreak & Moving On In Soulful Piano-Driven Ballad ‘Unbreak’

The classically lyricized rural hometown motif has nothing on the small town authenticity coming from rising jazz, soul, and country-infused pop singer-songwriter Xan DuBose. Offering emotive vulnerability and iron-backed passion in every performance and recording, the talented songstress puts this on full display in her new latest single, “Unbreak.”

Outstanding with delicate jazz piano and powerfully driven by velvety vocals, DuBose’s elegantly tempoed “Unbreak” takes a somber waltz and makes it lovely, with themes of loving someone but needing to let them go, while holding hope for time, healing, and newfound adorations.

A faultless mixture of contemporary lounge jazz and soul, her soft yet strong tone creates its own niche, branding itself as unique yet familiar, and powerfully resonant.

Her March debut single, “Serious Craving,” offers a catchy 1970s country-infused pop rock sound with a bold vocal timbre, along with her follow up single, “Vice,” which delivers an infectious energy with a jazzy twang that highlights her notable vocal authority. These songs mark the promising singer-songwriter’s initial releases, paving the way for her much-anticipated EP, due to greet streaming services in August 2024.

Reminiscent of the talents of Amy Winehouse, DuBose’s vocals unwaveringly excel at showcasing refined skill and control, making her peaks and valleys between chest and falsetto seamless and distinguished. Her talent is not lost on bookers and promoters, as she’s shared the stage with names Darius Rucker, Thomas McClary, and Charles Kelley of Lady A, whom she joined in a striking sold-out duet for Lady A’s timeless track “Need You Now” at a charity event in Augusta, Georgia.

DuBose has a strong foundation not only in music but music equity and education. The gifted vocalist, on top of her crazy performance schedule, has been the Conductor of Youth and Music at Downtown Church in Columbia, South Carolina since 2022, as well as held past positions as Clemson’s Music Director for the all-female a Capella group, NoteTake, and Activist Artists Management’s Assistant in Nashville, Tennessee.

Another native of her hometown, Patrick Davis of Camden, South Carolina, has supported DuBose’s career as a co-performer, teacher, and confidante. Gaining her acclaim, she forged her own path and began recording and releasing music after singing with Davis for ten years, as well as maintaining a strong presence in Davis’s Midnight Choir.

Not only a polished and impactful musician, but also a zealous supporter for musical education, diversity, and access in youth, DuBose is paving the way for her success and the success of her selfless passions, sounding extraordinarily prodigious and tasteful while doing it.
