Retro Spotlight: Throwback 70s-Inspired Soul-Pop Rockers Moon City Masters Deliver Latest Single ‘Company Man’

Most listeners know that feeling of being curiously drawn in by a song — that moment of surprise, expecting one thing and getting something totally different.

Enter Moon City Masters.

Originally from Brooklyn, the twin duo of Jordan and Talor Steinberg have been steeped in the music landscape since they were merely twelve-years-old, conveying years of exposure into their expansive sound. Fused together by varied genres, the balance between 70s pop-rock, funk, and soul is woven together by Moon City Masters in their newest single, “Company Man.”

“Company Man” is a momentous anthem: a story-driven piece detailing the pressures of pursuing a musical career in an age where the expectation is working the traditional nine-to-five just to get by.

Driven by the deep basslines played by Jordan, the track is heartfelt with touches of bright and electric melodies that feel like rays of energy hitting your ears, again with a vintage take-you-back tone.

“Company Man” is just the tip of the iceberg of MCM’s growing discography. The duo released their debut EP, The Adventures of the Moon City Masters, back in 2019, and have been cranking out groovy and retro tracks ever since.

Coinciding with their vibrant artwork and overall image, MCM’s sound is an intriguing amalgum of 70s prog-rock and soul music, with hints of 80s jazz fusion. With not only “Company Man” but a variety of MCM’s tracks like “Price You Pay”, listeners are given a message: to keep dreaming, throw away the “how to” handbook, and allow your passions to shine.

Through their personal experiences and growing catalogue of tunes, Moon City Masters captures and channels a plethora of musical techniques that are not only heard but felt. The dynamic twin duo doesn’t appear to have upcoming shows just yet, but perhaps fans can expect some new releases in the coming months.
