Music Industry Veteran Tara Shannon Publishes New Book ‘You And The Music Business’ Geared Towards Helping Indie Artists

Success in the world of music business can take on a number of forms.

For Tara Shannon, that success looks like cultivating her own unique path centered around a mission of “educating, empowering, and entertaining.” Her work is not limited to songwriting or performing; rather, she has invested her versatile talents in helping others along their own music business and self-discovery journeys.

According to Shannon, “to be successful in the business of music, you first need to be successful in the business of YOU,” a concept that she explores in her new book, YOU and the Music Business – A Self-Care Guide to Finding Balance and Joy in Today’s Music Industry.

Published via Lucky Book Publishing, this book is a new endeavor for the emerging author, who found inspiration from her own background in the music industry. Nearly 30 years of performing, mentoring, and writing have taught her a thing or two, and she is more than willing to share this wisdom with independent artists paving their way.

This book is not just for newbies to the industry; Shannon writes for pros and emerging artists alike. She provides insights and advice based on what she has learned, offering strategies and tactics for traversing this ever-changing realm of business. At the heart of this 184-page self-help book is the notion that art is, at its core, a journey of self-discovery. Shannon hopes to put artists in touch with themselves, which will ideally transform their musical careers.

Amongst others who have praised Shannon’s book is Jessica Pearson, an independent artist and songwriter who says it’s “a real, raw, and never-before-written perspective on the music business, creativity, and your inner self.”

Again, Shannon’s resume reaches beyond the titles of singer-songwriter, performer, and author. You can add motivational speaker and entrepreneur to the list as well. She is the co-founder of the artist-centric label, Willow Sound Records, and an education-focused coaching agency, The (Gro)ve

The multi-faceted Canadian author also has an impressive catalog of her own music, and visits Nashville to work on her new album with multi-platinum record producer, arranger and label-head Jim Ed Norman.
