Get To Know: The Fitzkee Brothers Offer A New Generation Of Southern Jam Rock

Hailing from Lewes, Delaware, The Fitzkee Brothers are a young familial duo known for their high-energy blend of Southern rock, funk, and soulful rock n’ roll. The core of the band consists of two brothers: Drew Fitzkee on bass and Alex Fitzkee on drums, at only 21 and 18 respectively.

They have earned the nickname the “Thump Brothers” for their tight and funky rhythm section. Despite their youth, they have quickly made a name for themselves, even being called “The mini fucking Allman Brothers” by none other than Post Malone.

Despite still being high school and college aged, The Fitzkee Brothers often tour and collaborate with musicians, and have performed at events like the Official Allman Betts Family Revival afterparties. This past October, the brothers released their latest single, “River Runs Dry,” which is a hefty funky rock song. Prior to that was their August single, “Memphis.”

This single, as well as numerous other Fitzkee Brothers songs, are notable in their catchy, jam-like nature. The long solos and high-energy moments of their songs are a signature of their sound.

The band’s reputation is largely built upon their powerful and highly improvisational live performances. These concerts are characterized by tight grooves, technical proficiency, and extended instrumental exploration as they aspire to solidify their standing within the improvisational circuit.

Their work has facilitated collaborations with musicians tied to the legacy acts they admire, notably performing alongside figures like Melody Trucks, daughter of the late Butch Trucks of The Allman Brothers Band. With Joe Marcinek on guitar and Ryan Gregg on keyboards, this adds layers of textural richness and instrumental dexterity, further allowing the band to craft impactful, genuine rock compositions that appeal both to fans of classic rock and new listeners seeking dynamic, soul-infused music.

The Fitzkee Brothers are a young exciting group carrying the torch of those who came before, and the future looks to burn bright for this band of brothers. They will be playing this Friday December 19th in Ocean City, Maryland, with a few more gigs in the Maryland area before the New Year.
