Opry Producer & Songwriter Bill Filipiak Delivers Tender Ode In New Single ‘She Still Wants To Kiss Me’

Surrounded by boundless inspiration and influence as the Director of Production for the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, it’s no surprise that Bill Filipiak is a multi-talented artist himself.

Filipiak’s newest single, “She Still Wants To Kiss Me,” embodies the tender singer-songwriter spirit that he witnesses day in and day out while working among musical greats in the music capital of the world.

His music has been characterized by Billboard as a “country-blues musical affair” which recognizes the “ups and downs of humanity.” His romantic and loving recent release reflects this lyrical lens, as it is a testament to a faithful and true love.

The Nashville-based Americana artist has been writing music for years, with recent albums like 2021’s Medicine I Need that showcase his knack for meditative lyrics and multi-instrumental skill. The Buffalo, New York native draws his inspiration from the human experience, with natural and honest perspectives in his sound and writing style.

“I have such profound respect for the artists I work with—how dedicated they are to their craft,” he says. “I learn something every day being around them. You know, Allison Russell released her first solo album at 41, and Ray Wylie Hubbard made his Opry debut at 72—even in their later years, they’re still achieving new goals and putting themselves out there. And that’s motivation for me.”

The descriptive lyricism in “She Still Wants To Kiss Me” depicts a loyal woman whose love stands the test of time, as he sings, “All the things I put her through and she’s still there when I start my day / And I’m not sure why she still believes in who I’ve been and who I’ll be.”

Filipiak’s advanced finger-picking on his twangy six-string drives the upbeat vibe while the cheerful harmonies weave a nostalgic texture into the melody. These instrumental elements paired with a groovy piano laying down savory chords complete the tenderness of a narrative reminiscent of long-lasting love.

Filipiak demonstrates how giving back to the industry develops a visible passion and authenticity in one’s own work. His organic style and sentimental lyrics in “She Still Wants to Kiss Me” will make you still want to hit the replay button.
