Briston Maroney Drops Vibrant Video Single ‘Paradise’, Announces Festival At Brooklyn Bowl In November

In what seems like just a few short years, indie pop-rock artist and Tennessee native Briston Maroney has skyrocketed beyond just the Nashville scene. His delightful new video single, “Paradise,” which dropped July 12th via Atlantic Records, is yet another impressive chapter in the young songwriter’s career.

Originally from Knoxville, TN, Maroney soon found himself in Music City to pursue his career as an artist. After releasing his EP, Carnival, in 2018 under Canvasback Music, the song “Freakin’ Out on the Interstate” gained enough traction to earn an RIAA Gold certification. Since then, he has opened for names such as Wallows, Rainbow Kitten Surprise, and Jack White. Despite his speedy trajectory into the limelight, Maroney credits his sound to his DIY roots: playing house shows in basements and living rooms.

“Paradise” takes the listener down the different paths of Maroney’s world, and with a sticky, energetic pop sound he’s known for.

The new wave indie production (done by Andrew Sarlo and Julian Cruz), along with dynamic layering, shows the current state of where Maroney’s music is headed. Grungy vocal and guitar effects allude to his history of playing those crowded house parties as a new artist. The lyrics tell a story of longing for an idealistic life and to be with someone who you truly love and align with. It’s a most familiar concept just about anybody with a beating heart can relate to.

The music video accompanying the song features the band freely rocking out in a field from day to night, chock full of trippy psychedelic visuals interspersed throughout. The whole vibe matches perfectly with the poster for Maroney’s independently curated festival of the same name – Paradise – which is coming to Nashville’s Brooklyn Bowl on November 3rd and 4th. The Paradise Festival will showcase artists like Indigo De Souza, MICHELLE, The Greeting Committee, and, of course, Maroney himself, with new acts to potentially be announced.
