San Francisco native, Josh Gray, is a current Americana artist whose music entices everything from rock to blues to bluegrass. MMS Presents: An Interview With Two Tone Guitar Queen Arielle, & A Breakdown of Her Album “Suspension/Dimension”

Generational talent. This is a term that comes to mind when seeing and hearing guitar virtuoso and songwriter Arielle. In seeing her, you’d think she time-travelled from 1969, and she just might’ve. She’s got a self-proclaimed “hippie heart with an edgy rocker spirit.” Arielle hit the musical ground running at a wildly early age, and has seen much success early in her career. For starters, she’s shared stages with stars like Graham Nash, Joe Bonamassa, Guns N’ Roses, Greg Allman, and many more. She was also recruited to play guitar in London for Brian May’s musical, “We Will Rock You,” based off of the music of Queen. She is fresh on the heels of her latest album release, “Suspension/Dimension” and is launching an extensive North American and European tour in support of it. While Arielle has a reputation for possessing a natural and effortless talent shredding on her custom-made “Two […]

MMS Presents: An Interview With Australian Country Pop Artist Jade Gibson

It’s easy to associate country music with states below the Mason-Dixon line, but country music lives and thrives all over the world. Just ask Australian country artist Jade Gibson. Gibson just released her debut single, “The Great Unknown” a little over a month ago, and it charted #1 on the Australian Country charts and #31 on the Overall Chart ranking amongst some of the most current popular music. On Friday, April 12th, Gibson released the same titled full length EP. After performing all over Australia for the last several years, Gibson knew it was time to take a leap of faith, follow her heart, and go to the city that is notorious for cowboy boots and honky tonks. When Gibson got to Nashville, she was connected with up and coming country writers in town, and wrote the songs that have become her debut EP. With strong female influences such as […]

MMS Presents: An Interview With Cosmic Country Connoisseur & Telecaster Wunderkind Daniel Donato

Some people are born with it, and some have to work at it, but I’m a firm believer either way it’s not one or the other. Whether that “it” is painting, skateboarding, duck hunting, rodeo clowning, or whatever. In Daniel Donato’s case, that “it” is mastering the maze of notes and sounds that stretch down the neck of a Telecaster, and with him, I’m convinced he was born with it. Daniel hasn’t eclipsed the quarter century mark on this planet, yet he’s achieved more than most could only hope at any age. As merely an adolescent in 2010, Daniel had a semi-viral video of him SHREDDING in Jerry Reed-esque fashion, pickin’ like a boy on fire along the streets of Broadway in Nashville during CMA Fest, which you can (and should) view HERE. Since then, Daniel has dominated guitar with such Nashville acts as The Wild Feathers, Paul Cauthen, and […]

MMS Presents: Emma Shackelford, Bringing Her Own Spirit and Soul to Country Music

While most songwriters start out as lyricists, this Nashville-based singer has always been drawn to melody. Emma Shackelford says, “One thing I can always come back to is the melody . . . I’ve always thought melody comes easier to me than words.” For Emma, first comes a memorable, soulful melody, and then comes the equally riveting and beautifully crafted lyric. In her single “Hot Commodity” she pushes the boundaries of country rhythms with quickly ascending pop melodies, and vocal bends straight out of a blues catalogue. As a child, this Orlando native was in front of a video camera filming home videos of her and her sister putting on concerts in her family’s game room. Emma and her sister used to dream of being country stars as kids, but Emma’s dream never faded— it only intensified. She graduated high school early so that she could get to Nashville sooner […]

MMS Presents: An Interview With Rising Music City Pop Singer Brooke Alexx

To the average person, Nashville conjures images of cowboy boots, honky tonks, and artists singing about whiskey, dirt roads, and tractors. While this is very much a reality, it’s important to note that there’s a whole other world of music here that spans all genres. After all, it is Music City, not Country Music City. Brooke Alexx is one of many transplants here determined to make a name for herself in the pop music scene. She’s got a solid grip and vision on who she wants to be, and what she wants to say, and is quickly making a name for herself. As of yesterday (March 14th) Brooke released her latest single, “Bored,” which will be on her very first EP set for release later this year. We had the chance to catch up with her and ask her some questions, so without further adieu, take it away Brooke! Music […]
