Honeyoye to the Honky Tonks: Meg Williams Shreds Blues Rock All Over Nashville & Beyond

Editor’s Note: Originally published March 2018

At first glance, you may not necessarily think “Shredder of the Blues” when you see Meg Williams. Watching her get on stage with her guitar, one might expect to hear some easy listening singer/songwriter tunes- and that couldn’t be further from the case.

Meg let’s it rip, whether she’s playing her acoustic or electric guitar. She both belts out her lyrics with all her might, and when she’s not doing that, she’s gliding her fingers up and down the neck of her Gibson Les Paul or other axe of choice, blasting through blues solos even the finest legends of the craft could appreciate.

She has been busy performing all around Nashville at respected Writer’s Nights and Songwriter Showcases, as well as numerous venues with both her band, The Meg Williams Band, and as a solo/duo act. You can find her on a stage nearly every single night, and sometimes even three times a night. (That’s dedication, folks)

After her first year living in Nashville, she was already a Featured Artist at several songwriter showcases, sharing the stage with many established songwriters and artists, and competed in the 2016 Nashville Blues Challenge. Additionally, she has performed in Memphis during International Blues Challenge Week in both 2017 and 2018, performing at the highly coveted BB King’s Blues Club. A few other highlighted performances of hers include the Re-Axe booth at the Summer NAMM showcase in Nashville, and at Loretta Lynn’s Ranch as a guitarist for another Nashville-based artist.

Meg just released her newest blues-rock EP “Maybe Someday”, recorded in East Nashville, featuring many Nashville-based musicians. You can find the EP on Spotify, iTunes, Amazon Music, and so on. You can visit her website to learn more HERE.
